Armenia’s Official Entry for the 99th Academy Awards® – International Feature Film Category

The Armenian National Film Academy announces the opening of submissions for the selection of Armenia’s official entry to the 99th Academy Awards® in the category of International Feature Film.

Filmmakers and producers are invited to submit eligible feature films for consideration by the Armenian Oscar Selection Committee.

Submission Period - 04 June – 14 August (inclusive)

Submission Procedure

All submitted films must comply with the eligibility requirements established by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) for the 99th Academy Awards®.

An international film is defined as a feature-length motion picture (running time over 40 minutes) produced outside the United States of America and its territories, with a predominantly (more than 50%) non-English dialogue track. Animated and documentary feature films are also eligible.

ATTENTION PRODUCERS

This year, changes have been introduced to the eligibility rules for the International Feature Film category.

Applicants are strongly advised to carefully review Section VI – Special Rules for the International Feature Film Award, in particular Section II.2, which contains important updates regarding submission eligibility requirements.

The selection process is conducted by the Armenian National Film Academy in accordance with the official rules of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). Members of the Selection Committee are elected from among the members of the Armenian National Film Academy at the General Assembly through an open vote.

All eligible submitted films are screened by voting members of the Academy. The final decision is made by secret ballot.

The film receiving the highest number of votes is selected as Armenia’s official submission for the International Feature Film category of the 99th Academy Awards®.

The Selection Committee certifies and approves the voting results. In the event of a tie or other exceptional circumstances, the Committee may initiate an additional round of voting or apply other procedures in accordance with Academy rules to determine the final selection.

Announcement of Results

During the period of 1–7 September, the Armenian National Film Academy will announce the selected film representing Armenia for submission to the Academy Awards®.
