The Armenian National Film Academy was founded in 2011. The main aim of the Academy is to promote and support film production in our country. Being a non-governmental organization, it unites people with a significant contribution to cinematography, filmmaking and cinematography. The activity is aimed at presenting the rich Armenian heritage of the film and contributing to the present-day promotion of the sector.
The first director of the film studio was cinematographer Davit Muradyan from 2011 to 2016. Then, in 2016-2017, he was a member of the European Film Academy, who was later followed by film director Harutyun Khachatryan, and in February 2017 by film director Vigen Chaldranyan. In March 2019 Ruben Jaghinyan, a member of the International Academy of Television and Radio, was elected President of the National Film Academy. The Academy now has 30 constant members and six ruling members.
The Armenian National Film Academy carries out the exclusive Anahit National Awards Ceremony. The Academy represents Armenian films at the world’s best awards and film festivals, organizes seminars, symposiums and other events aimed at promoting film production and development in Armenia.
